Gary Lyon joined Innovara in January 2011 as Executive Director for Canada, following a 20+ year career in the pharmaceutical industry and university teaching positions in the UK and Canada. He is currently on the faculty of Lakehead University's Business School and the Canadian Automotive Institute at Georgian College. He has coached small business start-ups through the self-employment assistance (SEA) program, co-funded by the Canadian and Ontario governments. His most recent pharma position was General Manager, Global OTC Operations for Glaxo Wellcome, based near London. He has worked in pharma in marketing, strategic planning and senior operational roles, based in the Far East, North America (US and Canada) and Europe. He has written and presented extensively on industry issues and is the co-author (with Michael Owen) of Nicholas Hall Reports on the outlook of DTC pharma promotion in Europe and a chapter contributor to T. Blackett, ed., Brand Medicine: The Role of Branding in the Pharmaceutical Industry (2001). He holds an MBA (Distinction) from Imperial College London, an adult teaching certificate (PGCE) and a BA (Hons) in Business Administration from the Ivey Business School at the University of Western Ontario. He is based north of Toronto in Barrie, Ontario.
